speed strips are quicker than speed loaders? interesting. that would mean speed loaders can get hassle-ish, more than I thought.... or at least a far cry from my impression that you just push a button or something like that and all your bullets are instantly dropped in the cylinder. More opinions please? I'm learning here. here's a scenario to work with. I don't like to keep my gun loaded for HD... I'd rather have the bullets very quick on hand, right next to the gun, much like an autoloader with the mag next to it, ready to load. what's the best for this?

Well, okay, but it is at least motivation enough to find a class 3 licensed FFL. Any NFA item requires a $200 stamp, though... there's just no getting around it.

You can futz around with speed loaders and speed strips if you want, but why not just use a semi-automatic pistol instead? I mean, there are a lot of great qualities about wheel guns, and they're very stylish to boot, but if you're going to keep a carry piece unloaded, why not use something that loads magazines? And while we're on that train of thought, why not just keep the gun loaded and have it securely fastened in half-cocked position? De-cockers rule.

I finally got my hands on a Beretta storm. Liked the way it felt, but really would rather have one in 9mm instead of .45. If any of youse guys should happen to see one that's on the market, please let me know. I've checked gunbroker.com and glocktalk.com, and nothing in my (used) price range is on those boards.

It doesn't come as a surprise that he's from Texas. One thing I liked about Texas was the grass-roots pro-gun stance shared by virtually the entire state. They believe in the 2nd amendment and the benefits of capital punishment.

*************uh-oh.... better correct the title before someone comes in here with the whole 'mags vs. clips nomenclature' thing********* HA Ha and they'd be correct too. I once used clip in the presence of an Ex Air Force Colonel. I very quickly learned that a clip was a WWI and II assembly of a small number of rounds "clipped together" at the factory. A Magazine was what you read on the crapper.

I've got two Romanian WASR's and I've got a Bushmaster XM15 carbine. In the end, I'd go with the WASR. I love the 7.62x39mm round and I prefere the heavy and solid construction of the AK in general. It's unquestionably reliable regardless if it's clean or not.

The gun has loosened up a little bit and the finish is trashed, but it just keeps ticking. I had issues in the past with Kimber MIM breakage but this particular gun has gained my confidence as a fighting gun. I won't make some outrageous claim like it has never malfunctioned but malf's have been extremely rare. The malf rate would be far less than 1% if I kept track. I abuse this pistol and shoot dirty reloaded 230 gr RNL as my primary practice load. It rarely sees factory ammo since prices have gone through the roof. When training with it, the gun does not get lubed or cleaned until the day is over. Once again, it just keeps ticking.

I'd give an original Classic Custom a serious look. Instead of tearing right into it, you may want to shoot it a bit to see what really needs done. While I'm not the least bit against customizing a pistol (obviously), I think shooting and training, not the internet, should tell you what needs changing.

I think the best accessory you can buy for a relaible gun is practice kimber 1911 hand gun.

The weight of the barrel will only refer to whether the barrel is a "heavy" one or not. The heavy-barrel (HB) designation means that there is more metal there. Some of these taper at different points, either underneath the handguards or from the front sight on. The HB whose thickness does not vary (i.e. is maintained from back to front) offers the most durable design. The 16" barrels are available in a lightweight configuration, M4 profile (thin under handguards, thick outside handguards, and with a cutout to allow mounting of M203, and in a heavy barrel. For this rifle, a lightweight or M4 Gun Magazin profile offers the most advantages as far as weight and handling.

Has anyone bought one of these yet? I just decided to buy ruger p 85. The local store had one NIB w/night sights for $400., after a little talking. I've always liked the cz 75 pistol handguns, infact I've got a little collection going. Just thought I'd see how you guys like cz 75 . I'll have to wait a week before I can take it home. Damn Missouri p89 ruger! I thought it was a hell of a deal with the night sights.

How does their "Poly" finish hold up?

I've got a CZ 82 with some kind of "Poly" finish, but it 20 years old. Looks a little worn, but shoots really good cz 75 compact .

The Type 97 Pistol includes iron sights - the rear is a ghost ring type, and the front sight is a heavy blade integral to the gas block. The gas tube is enclosed for strength and the enclosure is vented to aid in cooling. An ergonomically designed Hogue Over Molded pistol grip is fitted for comfort. Though no forend is included, the shooter can simply wrap the weak hand around magazine and well for two handed shooting.
